With help from friends, family, and a healthy dose of grit, they launched Whole Earth Provision Co. in Austin near the UT campus. The shelves brimmed with flour mills, oil lamps, how-to books, and handmade soaps. The mission was simple: help people live better, explore further, and learn more.
The store sold out in two weeks.
From those early days in Bluebonnet Plaza to today’s shops across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, Whole Earth has remained a haven for adventurers, daydreamers, nature lovers, and side-questers alike. We were the first to bring now-legendary brands like Patagonia and The North Face to Texas. We've outfitted generations for Big Bend treks, Kerrville campouts, and spontaneous detours to nowhere in particular.
We believe adventure isn’t a destination—it’s a state of mind. Whether you’re heading to the Hill Country or the Himalayas or just hunting for the world’s best adventure hat, we’re here to help you get there.
Still family-owned and proudly Texan, Whole Earth stores are filled with trail-tested gear, tools for discovery, wildly good gifts, and that unmistakable spark of curiosity you feel the moment you walk in. Our team is as friendly as they are knowledgeable.
We care deeply about the planet and the people on it. That’s why we support conservation efforts across Texas, respond in times of crisis, and partner with organizations that protect the wild, open spaces we all love to roam.
So whether you’re rolling in with a tricked-out Sprinter van, cruising high in a pickup, or wandering in with sand still on your shoes—we’re glad you’re here.
Because at Whole Earth, we don’t just sell stuff. We help you find what moves you.
